Dental emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time. Hanna Dental Group offers same-day appointments for urgent dental needs at our Kennedy Blvd office in Union City, NJ. Whether you’re dealing with severe tooth pain, a broken tooth, or a knocked-out tooth, we can see you the same day. Free consultations are available, and we accept most insurance plans.

Dr. Harvey Hanna, DDS, leads the practice as a second-generation dentist with a hospital residency at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he trained in endodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, periodontics, and restorative dentistry. That clinical breadth means most emergencies are handled right here, without a referral.

Dental pain or a sudden injury needs attention today. Call (201) 720-1471 to book a same-day appointment at Hanna Dental Group or schedule online.

Why Union City Patients Choose Hanna Dental Group for Emergencies

Most dental offices treat emergencies as an afterthought. Our practice is built to handle them. Dr. Hanna’s residency at Hackensack University Medical Center spanned the disciplines that matter most when something goes wrong: endodontics for infected or damaged pulp, oral surgery for extractions and trauma, and periodontics for gum-related emergencies. He’s also certified by the World Clinical Laser Institute as a laser dentist, which expands the treatment options available during your visit.

The result is a practice that addresses most urgent cases in-house, often on the day you call. Patients consistently describe visits as professional and stress-free, which matters when you’re already in pain.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

If you’re unsure whether your situation qualifies as an emergency, the short answer is: call us. These are the conditions that warrant same-day care:

  • Severe or persistent toothache that isn’t relieved by over-the-counter pain medication
  • Broken, chipped, or fractured tooth from an injury or biting down on something hard
  • Knocked-out tooth where time-sensitive care may improve the chance of saving it
  • Loose or dislodged tooth following trauma
  • Lost crown or filling causing pain or leaving a tooth exposed
  • Dental abscess with swelling, which can affect your overall health if left untreated
  • Persistent bleeding from the mouth or a soft tissue injury to the gums or lips

Some situations go beyond what a dental office handles. Go directly to a hospital emergency room if you have a suspected broken jaw, facial or neck swelling that’s spreading rapidly, or difficulty breathing or swallowing. Once those concerns are addressed, contact us for follow-up dental care.

Emergency Treatments Performed In-House

A common fear during a dental emergency is being told the practice can’t treat you. At Hanna Dental Group, the procedures needed to address most urgent cases are performed on-site:

What to Do Before You Reach Our Office

Call us first. That said, here’s how to manage the most common situations while you’re on your way.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Handle the tooth by the crown only, not the root. Rinse it gently with water and try to re-seat it in the socket, or keep it between your cheek and gum to stay moist. Call immediately. The longer the tooth stays out of the socket, the lower the chance it may be saved.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

Locate any broken fragment and rinse your mouth gently with warm water. If the broken edge is sharp, dental wax from a pharmacy can reduce irritation to your cheek or tongue until you arrive.

Toothache or Suspected Abscess

Rinse with warm salt water and apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Don’t place aspirin directly against the gum or tooth, as it can burn the tissue. Call for a same-day appointment, especially if you notice facial swelling or have trouble opening your mouth. Both can be signs that a dental abscess may be spreading and need prompt attention.

Lost Crown or Filling

Keep the crown if you have it and contact our office. Temporary filling material, available at most pharmacies, can protect an exposed tooth until we see you.
